After I was born I lived in the left side of a town house across the driveway from my grandmother until I was around three years old. After we bought a house in Horseheads, we visited her home almost every Sunday. She was my spiritual influence and taught me many gospel principles for which I have been very grateful!
My grandmother Ford lived in the one in back up the hill. The treacherous driveway into my grandmother's house was difficult to get out of in Winter. We spent many happy hours in that house with her! One of my uncles lived up the hill behind my grandmother, so we would visit them when we visited my grandmother.
The house on the left in the front of this picture is where I learned to walk. The closed in section on the left of the house used to be an open porch.
Other times we would walk down this ravine and go exploring the town. We were continually warned not to go in it to avoid flash flooding. According to a neighbor, it flooded during the last hurricane and caused a lot of damage.
This was my Grandmother Davenport's house, a couple of miles down the road from Grandmother Ford's house, where my mother grew up and my uncle raised his children. I remember spending many happy hours visiting them when I was growing up! We played under this tree. It sure has grown HUGE!! As have all the trees around it! I remember one time approaching the house from this direction and having my uncle meeting us at the car before we got out to inform us that the whole family were in quarantine for whooping cough. I was so frightened for my cousins!
