Shopping can be dangerous!

Thursday, August 25th started out malignant enough by taking a friend to her doctor appointment, lunch, and shopping at HomeGoods and Wall-Mart without finding the one thing I needed, a small stainless steel vegetable grader. Of course I did spend a small amount of money at HomeGoods, $22; not bad. Ah, Bed Bath and Beyond must have it! So after dropping my friend at her home, off I went. YES!! They had one! Five dollars and ninety nine cents, good price!

As I went through the store this was the conversation in my mind:

"Oh dear! Is that rain I hear on the roof of the store??? Where did that come from? The hurricane isn't do for 3 more days! and SOOOO hard and windy! Was that lightening and thunder? Yes! Maybe I'd better stay inside until it lets up a bit. Walking around the store will be good exercise. Those little cocktail forks and spoons look so cute; haven't had any for so long, and they are on sale only $1.99 each. I'll take two each. And there are serving forks. I lost one of mine. They are on sale too! and a small ladle to replace the one we left somewhere, and there is a gravy ladle and a cake server, never had those. Oh dear, they are $9.99 each. I'll just put them in the cart and think about them until I check out.

"Humm, I wonder if they have a spring rod to put up a curtain in the entry way to the 'nook' so Zach can have some privacy when they come this weekend. No, but they do have curtain rods. WHAT!! $60! Way too much for such infrequent use. I might be willing to pay $10, but no more. What's this, what's this?  a supper sale! one with a crumpled box for $10 and just the right length! I'll take it! Now for some curtains. Yes, they have the right color to match the curtains in the nook! What luck! That's OK that they are $20 apiece. It will only take 2 to cover the entrance, and look what I saved on the rod! You know, we are running low on good towels for when company comes; maybe I should take advantage of the great buy on 2 'Basic' brand bath towels and one hand towel.

"Still raining. Walk around again. What a cute little stainless steel whisk; that would be useful in small spaces, and it's only $5.99, and there is a vegetable peeler which I haven't had in forever since mine broke years ago, $7.99, a pastry brush, $6.99, a bottle brush, $6.99 (it's hard to find a good one which will not crumple quickly), A cookie sheet! I haven't had one in so long! $6.99, A duster like the one I used in the temple, I'll take it, OOPS $19.99, What an adorable throw pillow! That would look perfect on the couch, $19.99.

"The rain has eased, and it is getting time for dinner. Dad has a meeting tonight, so I must brave the little rain left. Hummm, what should I purchase. No time to think now. It can't come to too much. I'll take them all!

What $224.38 with tax! YIKES!
So grateful for ONLINE banking!
I'll make sure there was enough money to cover it!!"
