Canning: A great way to warm the house!

This past week the temperatures have been extreme, first cold then too hot and  humid. When it has been cold, and the tomatoes ripening fast in our garden, the house became toasty warm by the heat off the stove from canning.... instead of the furnace. Which, by-the-way, I refuse to turn on until well into October! Just a bit of rebellion from having to heat the house 8 months out of the year as it is! After visiting with Gramma this past weekend, there were even peaches from Ed to put up for winter. Feels cozy having food prepared for the LONG Winter!
