Saturday, Dad went out and 'mulched' up the leaves in the yard and deposited them in the road to be swept up this week. After I had picked up a bushel of Golden Delicious off the ground in our neighbor's yard, Dad came and helped me pick up another bushel. Gave some away, but still have about 1 and 1/2 bushels left. YIKES, what was I thinking???????!!!!!!! Now to purchase more jars to can sauce and slices, a good thing to do on a chilly day, right. :) Also on Saturday, Dad helped me dig up the Comfrey root, which had planted itself near the garbage can. Tenacious plant, how dare it grow itself in my flower bed, hehe!! It does have beautiful flowers on it, but can almost never be gotten rid of. Oops, should have been more careful when discarding remnants from a previous harvest. This is the first year since planting the comfrey in the back yard (it likes wetness) that I've run out of tinture before more can be produced (takes 2 months to process). It is
Saturday was Halloween, but we were so tired from all the labors of the day and other concerns, that Halloween got put on the back burner. Fortunately, the candy had been purchased last week when out shopping for groceries. I was ready for being innandated!!! 350 Items of candy!!! Only gave awey 30, and some took two....... Don't know if the lack of trick-0r-treaters was because of sickness (n1h1 going around), parties, or safety concerns. Can't say I'm too dissapointed, because I feel that this
