Having hot and cold water faucets at my finger tips on the deck have been a wonderful blessing when needing to wash dirt off from a number of projects!
By the time all of the leeks were cleaned, cut up and frozen, there were 2 gallons of the tender root parts, 3 quarts of chopped green tops and 2 gallons of sliced tops for soups! The tops are tough, so the chopped ones will have to be liquified before used in soups. After doing the first batch, I thought that maybe it would be better to leave them in larger pieces, so that they could be removed after the flavor was cooked out, like bay leaves.
Now the freezer is full of the fresh smell of onions!! aaaaaaaah!!!
