Since watching the movie, "A League of Their Own", I have wanted to revisit the Baseball Hall of Fame and see the display about this League of Women Baseball Players who stole the hearts of the American public during WWll. I was not disappointed! They explain that this was not the first nor the last woman's baseball team and that some leagues even have or have had women players on men's baseball teams. During the war, the women's skirts were shortened to encourage men to attend the games, thereby keeping the leagues in business in spite of the war. It also proved a means of distracting those at home as they dealt with the anguish of having so many men absent from everyday life.
