While perusing facebook the other day, I came across an advertisement for a delightful little book which explains how to discover which of the 6 basic face shapes I have and how to choose the best hairstyle for that shape.
I have a long narrow oval face.
Most of my life, my hair has been cut at home by myself and family or by friends in their homes. On the few occasions when a professional has done my hair, I have been very much disappointed. Most likely due to a lack of ability to explain how I like it or the stylist's lack of ability to visualize what looks best with my face shape. Since it is becoming more difficult to cut my own hair, I thought it wise to discover some way to explain to a professional how I want it cut. Thus I got on the internet to find some pictures of styles which have proven successful for my face shape.
Here are some examples, which I have tried in the past and still enjoy.
When I cut my hair myself, this is how it usually ends up.
Easy to care for but needs continued trimming to maintain the look.
This is a cute variation which I like as well.
As it grows out, it ends up looking like this,
which I like very much!
But this is my favorite, a long shag!
Not sure if I would look good in it now at my age.
This is how I wore my hair for many years after getting married.
Dad LOVES IT this way!!
But it has gotten too thin and looks scraggly.
