Christmas Day while visiting with Gramma, she showed me some pictures
she was planning on having copied to give each of us siblings, but not
all of them for each of us. Sooooooo, I asked her, 'pretty please', if I
could borrow them to scan into my computer, thereby saving her the
money to have mine copied.
This way I got copies of them all!
I will start with pictures of Gramma Ford as she grew up!
Aunt Helen Gramma's oldest sister and herself 1929 or 30.
Aunt Helen bought most of Gramma's clothes until she got married a few years after this picture was taken.
Gramma around 4yrs old.
Gramma has always LOVED cats! About five years old.
Gramma Ford around 6 or 7yrs old
Ten years old still holding a cat!
Aunt Edna on the rock and Gramma in the inner tube with her tongue out.
Gramma, Uncle Edward her oldest brother and Great Gramma Davenport, 1943
The picture with Gramma was taken in 1943, about the time she started smoking. When she was 16 she got a job at a local factory and earned money for her clothes and school supplies. Her parents also set up a savings account for her of $5/week. A LOT of money at that time!
This picture of Gramma was taken at Easter in 1946 the year she got married.
Gramma and Aunt Ida who is her sister closest in age, 6yrs apart.
World War ll was over and home came Gramma's brother, Russel, and best friend, Victor Ford.

Soon came their courtship,
Wedding in September, and
Honeymoon at Niagara Falls

Wow, that 4th picture down, of Gramma sitting with the cat? It looks so much like Sam to me! Same haircut and everything! LOL I always thought you looked like your dad, but I see a lot of your mom too by looking at these pictures.
ReplyDeleteYea, my cousin, Dottie, on my mom's side and I have similar bone structures, but I have my dad's long face and coloring. Other than that the Davenport genes are powerful, hehe! Glad you like them. I'll have to post the ones of Aunt Kolleen and I as we were growing up. That will show a lot too!
