For 37yrs, the brightly flowered pattern adorned our living room bringing a bit of sunshine in during overcast skies. I do not remember how long ago, at least 3-4 years ago, new material was purchased in UT to redo the covers on the couch and chair in our living room. Last year I decided to get busy and buy the new cushions and cut out the fabric, only to discover that the material was barely enough, YIKES! That's what I get for changing my mind after purchasing the material.
The couch originally had three small cushions across the seat and three across the back, but I wanted to make bench seat cushions to be available for use when extra company needed a place to sleep. They sure came in handy last month when the Utah Children's Choir came to town, even though they were only covered with the under-fabric and material for the covers was still in pieces on the sewing machine table. The original material rarely showed any stains or sign of ware, but this plain fabric will not be so forgiving...... Good thing it is waterproof and stain resistant!!!
As you can see from the photo above the contrast is going to take quite a while to adjust to, LOL!
Trina, Patrick and Elaine each gave me some helpful advice on how to spruce them up!!
Trina -you could probably add some button tufting to the back? use a similar color (or same material) for the button covers.
Patrick - Maybe more pillows? By-the-way, what's wrong with plain?
Elaine - I'd put the pillows along the back for starters and add another one.
Thanks guy and gals!!!

Now to implement the advice!!! :)
Hummm, perhaps a patterned throw across the back instead of the plain one will help as well.
T
do you still have the material from the old cushions? You should make a throw pillow out of it just for fun!
