While Dad was at class Friday evening, I attempted to tighten the plastic nuts on the rusty brass bolts for the downstairs toilet seat, with no luck. After a bit of persuasion with "Coke" poured over the bolts, one of the nuts came off and the other broke in the pliers, sigh. I really did not want to spend the money at this time to replace the seat, which desperately needed to be replaced, but the 'Scrooge' in me was attempting to 'make it last' a bit longer. This old natural wood seat had been a compromise with Dad at the time. I wanted the better high quality one, and therefore more expensive, but Dad insisted we be more practical. From the start that seat was a thorn in our back sides.
Pun intended!
It was very uncomfortable to sit on and after a couple of years began to crack, leaving a small piece missing, in a strategic place, OUCH!!
For whatever reason at this time, the stores do not carry in-stock natural wood toilet seats for oval toilet bowls!! Sooooo, after much deliberation and no toilet seat to sit on at home, I had to compromise--- with myself this time--- and choose the best one for the job.
These were my criteria:
white
chrome fittings
with rounded edges on the seat
The only one I found having these features, had a bonus!
A built in child's seat!!
Not that we have any use for it at this time, but now I can throw away the old portable one for which there is little space for storage. This was a nice added feature to make up for not being able to have the natural wood seat I wanted!
All's well that ends well!! Hummm,
