Lipizzaner Stallions came to Binghamton.......

Dressage is a form of ballet like drill. The horses LOVED Performing these steps!!!
In this maneuver the front horses hips are together walking sideways, while the horses behind have their noses together while walking sideways forming a four pointed star. Coming back down the walkway, they did the opposite making a diamond shape.

This picture is too small for the brand to show clearly, sorry.... The crown with a P in the center is on his left thigh.

Here is the silver Spanish Andalusian Stallion taking a bow. Check out the long flowing mane. His bangs came almost to his nose, and the mane is to his throat, while his tail almost touched the ground! He was much larger than the rest of the horses.

This, also, is the Andalusian with a different rider. This horse could also rear up his front legs and kick with his back legs before landing with a rider on his back!!! I had read about this, but not seen it live, only on film. Incredible strength, and power of control!

Horses back legs are actually weaker than their front legs, so standing on their hind legs takes years to develop enough strength to do it without a rider and even longer to be able to do it with a rider.

This is one of the Lipizzaners, such power at the riders command!!!

Went to see an amazing show of the Lipizzaner Stallions last night!! The best I've seen! All of the horses were mature and could do so many wonderful feats of challenging maneuvers. As always they delighted the audience with their beauty, grace and agility. Such magnificent animals to behold!! They are born black and between 5-10yrs old become bright white, with an occasional one which never turns. This one is considered good fortune, and is thought to bring peace. Two of these stallions came directly from Austrian stables and 3 were rescued from a stable in financial difficulties. Notice the brand on one of the horses. It's a crown with a p inside, symbol of the stable from which he was trained in Austria. There was even a large, powerful, silver maned Spanish Andalusian Stallion, one of the breeds from which the Lipizzaner breed has been developed. Horses have been my passion since grade school and the Lipizzaner Stallions have been at the top of my favorites! Thank you Jackie Sands for the tickets!! Couldn't have had a better birthday present!!!
