We are midway through the class. The teacher is female, mid 40s, with typical American back ground in newspaper prier to marrying to an Egyptian. She has been teaching for many years and brings a broad journalistic view of media to the students. Because this is a writing emphasis class, there is a lot of reading and written homework to turn in. We've had very serious class discussions on the handling of current issues and how they are portrayed in the mass media market.
To date, I have a running 'A' in the class and just received our mid-term test back with a grade of 'A'! The current project is examining the 12 Mohammad cartoons in the Danish newspaper, with the resulting aftermath of riots, burnings, and killings from religious fanatics.
