As I had 'promised' one day when Dad came home, I would have taken this window unit out and thus it happened, LOL! He thought that perhaps I would be happy with just having the window out and leaving the wall intact, but not a chance! Out it came and what a mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plaster dust and cement chunks and dust everywhere. Having the furnace fan continually running to remove the dust from the air has been a tremendous blessing, aaaaaaah. After removing the side boards to install new ones to the floor, we discovered that the inside needed to be filled for support. It had been open to house the weights which held the windows open when they were up. WHEW were they heavy! Dad harvested them for use in making a new antenna.... hummm, another one..... :)
We got 3/4s of the new doorway framed in last night. It was quite a chore to get the threshold to fit... and TONS of sawdust... My goal is to have this project completely done by Easter. The next step is to install the new flooring, then the 3/4 wall to separate the entry way from the new 'alcove' and paint. I think we can make it! The worst is over! Hurray!!! Dad can do the wiring anytime after that, and install the drop ceiling.... when we have money again... OOPS!
This is how the other side looked before we enclosed it. Sure looks better enclosed!!! There will be some spots to patch, but all in all not too bad considering that we are amateurs, of course we have the Lord as our companion, so he has not let us go astray as we have learned. :)
