New Semester

It's a new semester at BCC and already changes. Before classes started, my Public Speaking class was canceled, because there were not enough students. At the suggestion of my counselor, I choose to take Public Policy. The first class was this Monday from 6pm - 8:15, because of Martin Luther King Day the previous week. While waiting for this class to start, the thought came to me that this class had previously been discussed and the Geography class from SUNNY was to be substituted for it. SO, back to the schedule to make another change. On Monday, I contacted my counselor during the day and attended the new class, Advanced Video 210, to request admittance from the professor. All went well, the counselor agreed and the professor was happy to invite me to his class. The lesson in this first class was vocabulary, of which I knew the meaning for about 3/4 of the words!! It felt good to realize that I qualify for this class and that there will still be knowledge to learn, but not too overwhelming. Then, on to the registrar's office to do battle by officially registering for an advanced class, while still waiting for credit from my portfolio.

Success!! All is well.

My second class, Writing for the Media, is held on Tues and Thurs from 3pm - 4:15. The first assignment was to write a brief autobiography (not part of the syllabus), which I handed in last Thursday. By the way, I was one of the few who did so. The professor doesn't feel that this class should tax us much. This is going to be an easy class!

Hurray, Today I learned that all of my classes from SUNY have been successfully transferred to BCC!! Now for the portfolio to be accepted, and I will be half way to an Associates degree at the end of this semester! After receiving credits for the portfolio, the rest of the credits will come slowly, but should continue to be interesting and fun.
