Summer classes report:

Upon discussion with my adviser at BCC, it was discovered (much to my disagreement) that I had no legitimate reason for not taking a required PE class. While searching for a class which would fit my schedule and interest, I came across a 6wk backpacking class which required only one 3-5day trip. Mom had gone back packing with the YW several times and seemed to enjoy it, so how much work could it be! Refer to "June16 report for more details and pictures. Needless to say, on the way down I decided that it was more work than I ever care to do 'on purpose' again. Of course the knowledge will serve me well in an emergency, if we ever need it.

Got and 'A'!!!

The other class was English 220. We had to read one book, "Super Sad True Love Story" by Gary Shteyngart, for 6wks and write a one page report on each chapter. The vulgarity almost turned me from completing this class, but the book gradually improved. Besides the writing we were required to do a project. I chose to do a 2 'man' (my partner was a young woman from the SUNY Radio Station) play about the "PROCESS". I made masks for each of us to show the change if age and beauty for the 'patient', handed out 'advertising pamphlets' about the 'process' (quoted from the book) and gave everyone the type of pizza described in the book - tofu and kimchi. The pizza was not bad actually! I'll post a video which I made of it, when I get the audio to work. This class turned out to be a not so bad class!

When I wrote SSTLS I was:
Sexually frustrated with not finding a sweet little girl and a soul mate to take care of. Someone to share my secrets with and a challenge to work with daily. Young enough to energize me, to make me strain myself, to force me to reach. Maybe show off to my friends, create a little bit of jealousy and, contention over. And let her adore me with teasing and tickling. I'll need lots of money to shower her with....

No problem....i the beginning:
I was contemplating the future and where it was all going. It didn't start out as a problem but the country was going down the tubes with balance of power, trade deficit, and so many jobs leaving the US. We became a consuming economy without a future and can not sustain it. Our today actions will come back to bite us tomorrow, with interest!

Dissatisfied?
Maybe I used too much vulgarity and innuendo. Why couldn't I find a better way to express my feelings to get the message across? Did I have to write on a forth grade level?

Book as a gift:
I wanted to drive the point home that we shape our future. The receiver of this book is a young 20's with no concept of what the future could be under the worse case circumstances. The government is tramping on our rights and can't seem to get it right. Our personal lives are streamed in front of our faces while we are stabbed in the back.... wake up reader and get involved.

If SSTLS is a medicine, what is the disease, symptoms, how does it cure it:
1) The disease is lack of understanding

Poison. Destroys the reader, how:
1) SSTLS is a vehicle of poor writing with emphasis on the vulgar. It poisons the readers mind by masking the point in unnecessary form and idea.
2) The author worked too hard to produce a clever story line.

If everyone in the world had this book available:
1)This book would not h ave much impact on young children because the concepts are beyond their grasp.
2) Young teens might find this book exciting for the sexual content or the erotic nature.
3) Older reader can read between the lines for the message. Expect push back.
