This is my dad:
I call him Vati (it's German). He doesn't love that, says it sounds a bit like "fatty." It's not though, so I use it anyway :)
Inheritance-wise,
I have the same eye and hair coloring and the same bone structure, BUT,
I can roll my tongue and he cannot - he got pretty moody when he
learned that he couldn't roll his tongue (I bet he'll debate that, lol!), oops! He can do lots of other
things though.
He loves radios and radio stations. He
likes them so much that he created the softstart in order to keep old
radios happy and healthy. He sells them all over the world, including
the US gov. Pretty cool, don't you think?
He can make
practically anything he puts his mind to, except anything to do with
clothing. He doesn't get that at all, although he can make a mean button
hole! (my mom couldn't figure out how to make button holes on her new
machine, so he figured it out. He made lots and lots of them - then he
handed them out to clients, along with his business card, lol!)
He's
quite passionate about his likes and dislikes. I.E. when asked for his
opinion, he will give it, but you'd better be ready for his opinion,
because you're not necessarily going to like it. This is a good thing when I really want an honest opinion!
He's quite the teacher and can talk your ear off when he's in the mood! I think he'd make an amazing professor, but we'll have to wait and see what happens... Once
I got my master's degree, he decided that he needed/wanted a degree
too, so off he went to get one. I'm immensely proud of this fact! He
will retire and graduate at the same time or pretty close. It's amazing
how much his perceptions of the world around him has grown from going
back to school :)
He's always there when he's needed. He takes his responsibilities very seriously, but he's not pushy about it. :)
Love you Vati!
p.s. perhaps I should've done a tribute to my mother for mother's day, oops! next year...
