Spring has been BEAUTIFUL this year and the yard is getting back in shape! To bad my own shape is not so easy to beautify, LOL!!
Last Saturday, top soil was added to the ditch dug last spring to hold the drainage pipe from the roof off the back
of the house. Then grass seed, fertilizer and mulch were placed over the soil before it started to rain Saturday night, all day Sunday and Monday. It was a soft gentle type of rain, just right to soak and start the germination process of the new grass seed. Gradually since the rain stopped the temperature has gradually risen until it is 90* today!!
Many years ago, a Beautiful Maple tree shot it's roots deep into the sewer line running along the side of our house and started collapsing it. Of course the tree was removed, but the roots continue decay and and allow the ground to settle, so those spots got some TLC as well.
Last winter, the roofer's truck sunk so deep into the front yard that they had to bring another truck to pull it out!! Need less to say it left deep ruts in our yard. Last Summer, Dad had filled them in with dirt but they still needed some more.
When I mowed the yard after returning from Utah, my ankle found these deep, dry crevices left from last years watering holes, which were created by the run off from our neighbors sump pump draining into our side yard. Running the drain hose to the French Drain along the back fence has allowed the yard to dry up to a more tolerable level.
