Spring Break

The nighttime train ride was quite an experience! One we do not wish to repeat anytime soon, unless it is with the use of a sleeper. But what did that matter, we were on our way to spend time with our beloved girls and grandchildren.!!!

Upon reaching Chicago we walked 2 blocks to take the transit train to the airport. We were grateful for backpacks and wheels on suit cases!!!

The Chicago Transit Train between Amtrak and Midway Airport was efficient and offered an interesting view of the city, traveling above the roofs of many buildings.

Elaine was wonderful to pick us up at the airport and take us to get some much appreciated dinner. Then she dropped us off at Trina's who had a wonderful surprise waiting for us to sleep on - a real queen sized bed in a room of our own with it's own bathroom!!!! How could life get any better than having family who love and care for us so well!!!! Thank you, Thank you , Thank you, to all of you!!!

Grampa had brought some books for the boys and Gramma had brought some new pets, baby T-Rex and Petree along with a TY kitten and puppy.

Watching the inspiring talks for General Conference from the comfort of a spacious family room, while our daughter's and grandsons made cookies just off the room in the kitchen, was truly heart warming.

During the Saturday evening Priesthood Session of Conference we had a ladies night out and invited Ann to join us for dinner. It was wonderful to get to spend some time with her!

Unfortunately we left warming temperatures in NY to wake up with snow on the ground in Utah. By noon, the weather warmed up and the snow melted, so that the boys could go outside and play in their spacious back yard.

Tom Elaine and I had tickets for seats in the Conference Center balcony to attend the Sunday afternoon session of General Conference, so off we went after a quick lunch. What an awesome feeling it was to be in the presence of so many General Authorities at one time on Easter Sunday, while they counseled us on how to live more righteous lives!!!! I can hardly wait to receive the May Ensign and review each talk over and over again!

Utah has a tremendous quantity of dinosaur remains, which has produced a serious interest in the science of Paleontology. Thus, a great source of interest to Sam and Gabe is the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point. It is full of fun hands on science experiences and teaching tools for all young scientists.
OOPS, I forget that the video on my camera has to have the camera horizonal...

Don't bit me!!!!

Sam, 3yrs old soon, just loves balls and Gabe 6yrs old soon, loves letters and has learned to read quite well this year in Kindergarten. It was a delight to spend time with them in their familiar surroundings!!

Here are a couple examples of the dozens of dinosaurs to be found in this museum, and how they were displayed in as natural surroundings as science could surmise. The museum has made the tour quite interesting for young and old.

At the end of the museum tour are sandboxes in which are "buried" fossil findings to be "unearthed" by junior Paleontologists using small paint brushes. They had loads of fun!!!

The next day we decided to try out the bowling lanes, but the boys quickly lost interest in tossing a heavy ball down the lanes and headed to the car racing arcade game and the pool table. Grampa was thrilled to be teaching the next generation the little nuances of Pool!!

Thursday was laundry day; even on vacation domestic tasks must be done....

Firday we went to visit and have dinner with some wonderful friends, whom we have not seen in a LONG time. How delightful it was to be with all of them and see how their families have grown!!! Thanks Sarah for providing this opportunity to get together with everyone!!!!

Ben Campbell, his new son, sweet daughter and beautiful loving wife.

Josh Varney and his son also came for dinner! It was a full table!!!

The weather finally warmed up enough so we could go to the "Dinosaur Park" to play with the boys on all the wonderful climbing and swinging equipment! The boys sure do love it there, with all it's twists and turns and places to explore, with slides, swings and hiding places!!

Sunday Tom and I went to Elaine's Stake Conference and relaxed at Trina's afterward until Ben got home from his Executive Secretary duties of the day. Then we had a delicious crock pot lasagna, which Trina had prepared before going to church.

During quiet times while Sam took his naps, we read books or took naps ourselves. It truly was a vacation with no rushing or overdoing!! Thanks girls for making this time with you relaxing and enjoyable, so that we could be prepared to get back into the rat race as soon as we got home!!!!
