Today my Lego buddies came over as usual around 10am and stayed til around noon. First we played with the play dough which is now all green, OOPS! Then we sponge painted with the finger paints, and finally created beautiful artwork with water paints! Almost forgot the "smocks" (Dad's old button down shirts), YIKES, would their moms have been unhappy with me at getting their good clothes covered in paint!! They were so much fun to work
with so excited and energetic at these new projects. When they tired of painting, we set up the Lego table. Then Dylan suggested we watch "Lion King", which they greatly loved!! As usual Ryan asked for pretzels, since the past couple of weeks that is what was available for snacks. :) They seem to have made themselves right at home! I will miss him if his father get
s the transfer to Turkey, which he's looking for, sigh. And so will Dylan. Upon loosing interest in the Legos, the rolling computer chair became a source of mild rivalry, so today I suggested we bring the rolling sewing chair in the living room to watch the movie with too. Ryan was thrilled! All too soon, Dylan's Mom returned and Ryan walked back across the street. One Tuesday, Dylan's and my regular Lego day, I went away with Dad and suggested that Dylan's Mom contact Ryan's mom to watch him, since they live across the street from us and would probably get along. The next week when Dylan was being dropped off, he realized that Ryan was across the street and asked if he could come over to play with us. We were surprised that he didn't ask to go to Ryan's house, but he wanted to play at "gramma's" house. Since each boy's grandparents live long distances away and they do not get to see them often, they seem to enjoy the company of a "gramma" figure in their lives. I must admit that it also fills a need for being with some "grandchildren" as well. But it doesn't fill the spot of my very own..... Just for a few minutes a week it takes the edge off of missing my own.
